In addition to adults, Family
Optometry prides itself in examining children of all
ages, including infants (6 months and older), toddlers,
and teens. We utilize the
latest technology in the evaluation of spectacle and
contact lens prescriptions, peripheral vision, intraocular
pressure, and eye health. Our computerized examination
instruments are used to supplement rather than replace
personalized care.
Exams include tests for eye teaming,
tracking, coordination, depth perception, glaucoma,
cataracts, and macular degeneration. In addition, we
can determine ocular effects of general health disorders
such as diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure.
A dilated pupil examination is recommended for all our
patients to ensure total eye health.
Our primary eyecare examination
is a comprehensive evaluation of the visual system and
eye health. This examination is designed to detect a
wide range of deficiencies and many eye diseases. The
American Optometric Association recommends a comprehensive
eye examination every one to two years depending on
age and health. We recommend an annual exam for all
patients, especially those wearing contact lenses.
