Vision therapy is a specialized
program designed specifically for the patient. The goal
is to develop and enhance visual skills such as eye
movements and information processing. This is achieved
through various eye related games, exercises, and activities.
A complete
vision examination is the first step in starting our
vision therapy program. Upon completion of the vision
exam we will perform a Visual Information Processing
(VIP) evaluation. This will assess the visual system
and discover any hidden deficiencies. Finally, a
structured vision therapy program is designed. Family
Optometry's vision therapy program consists of two sessions
per week, each lasting one hour. Progress is evaluated
every six weeks. When the patient reaches their therapy
goals the program is complete and minimal home therapy
is recommended to maintain the visual skills.
